What Synthetroniq is

Synthetroniq is an audio identification and reference tool. It listens to a sound — from a YouTube clip, a microphone recording, or a text description — and identifies which synthesizer preset it most closely resembles from a catalog of classic synth patches. It is a search and discovery tool, not a patch library or sample distribution service.

Intellectual property — patches and sounds

The synthesizer patches, presets, and sounds referenced in Synthetroniq's catalog are the intellectual property of their respective manufacturers and rights holders. This includes but is not limited to:

Roland Corporation (D-50, Juno, JV series, and others)
Yamaha Corporation (DX7, SY series, and others)
Korg Inc. (M1, Wavestation, and others)
Access Music Electronics (Virus series)
Sequential / Dave Smith Instruments (Prophet series)
And all other manufacturers represented in the catalog

Synthetroniq does not own, license, or distribute these patches. Patch names, brand names, model names, and associated trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Synthetroniq is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any synthesizer manufacturer.

Audio previews in the app are short reference clips used solely for the purpose of sound identification — similar to how a music recognition app plays a brief clip to confirm a match. They are not provided for download, reproduction, or any commercial purpose.

What you may and may not do

You may use Synthetroniq to:

Identify synthesizer patches by sound for personal reference
Discover which synth and preset produced a sound you heard
Research classic synthesizer sounds for educational purposes

You may not use Synthetroniq to:

Reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit any patch or preset identified by the app
Misrepresent identified patches as your own original work without appropriate licensing from the manufacturer
Reverse-engineer or extract audio content from the app for purposes other than personal reference

No warranty

Synthetroniq is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Search results are probabilistic — we make no guarantee that a match is correct, complete, or exhaustive. The catalog is a subset of available patches and does not represent all sounds ever produced by any manufacturer.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Synthetroniq and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or reliance on its search results.

Audio you provide

Audio you submit for search — via microphone, file upload, or YouTube URL — is processed in real time to generate a mathematical representation of the sound. It is not stored, shared, or used for any purpose other than returning search results to you. YouTube URLs are fetched via a third-party download service; you are responsible for ensuring your use of any YouTube content complies with YouTube's Terms of Service.

Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Synthetroniq at any time without notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from such changes.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
